Girl jumps into Aharbal fall

Srinagar: A 16-year old girl today jumped into famous Aharbal fall in south Kashmir and ended her life.
Sources said that Sumaya, daughter of Abdul Gani Mir of Manzgam Noorabad, Kulgam came all the way to the waterfall and jumped there, ending her life. Her body was fished out late Wednesday evening and handed over to he family.
It is pertinent to mention here that Aharbal fall, Kashmir’s own version of Niagara, has consumed almost 16 lives during past ten years.
While two people have jumped and killed themselves, remaining 14 just slipped and fell and died.
It was in this backdrop that the government had erected fence around the water fall to avoid such accidents and save lives.
However, today’s incident has again cautioned the authorities to be more vigilant so that such incidents don’t take place.
