Govt has failed to solve problems of displaced KPs: Veeri

Jammu, Feb 06: Former Minister and MLA Bijbehara Abdul Rehman Veeri today said flayed the National Conference (NC) coalition regime for its “failure” to solve problems being faced by the displaced Kashmir Pandit (KP) community living in different parts of Jammu region.
Addressing a meeting organized by the Migrant Cell of the PDP, Veeri, according to a party statement said that NC was responsible for the problems being faced by the displaced community.
He said that except promises nothing has been done so far by the NC regime to mitigate woes of the displaced community. He said that government has doing only lip service but on ground no effective steps has been taken for the rehabilitation for the displaced community.
Veeri said that “on the one hand state government has not taken effective step for the rehabilitation of the KPs while on the other central assistance announced for the displaced community was not properly utilized”.
He said that employment package for the displaced community was also not properly utilized. He regretted that government has not formulated any clear-cut policy for the over-aged Kashmir Pandit youth.
Supporting the demands raised by the participants during the meeting, Veeri endorsed the demand of granting minority status to KPs as is being done in other states. He also supported the demand of enhance month relief.
On this occasion Ashok Bhat urged the government to provide transport and Medical facilities to the residence of Jagti township after 04:00 PM and also desired that subject teachers be provided in Higher Secondary School and also power supply position be improved. He further urged that the shop be allotted to the persons who have already submitted CDRs.
