Srinagar: A batch of trekkers, under the banner of JKMHC, today set off for a trek to Mohanmarg in Sindh Valley.
3250 metres in altitude, Mohanmarg is a beautiful meadow located atop the mouth of the Sind Valley and can be approached from Yarmukam, a village 10 kms ahead of Wayul bridge on the Sindh river.
The group started the ascent early morning and after a steep hike of 10 kms reached snow covered Mohanmarg in about 5 hours.
It was at this place a century back famous historian and explorer Sir Aurel Stein established his camp to translate Rajtarangni from Sanskrit to English.
JKMHC has been conducting Sunday treks since last year and many more treks are in offering.
A spokesman of JKMHC said that those interested in trekking are requested to joins us on our face book page Jammu and Kashmir Mountaineering and Hiking Club where Sunday programmes are announced on weekly basis.
