Khan directs officers to speed up pace of dev work

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 06: Out of available allocation of Rs. 259.67 crore, Rs. 198.92 crore were spent under MG NREGA in Kashmir Valley including Leh and Kargil districts during current year so far.
This was stated at a review meeting of Project Officers, Assistant Commissioners (Dev) and other concerned officers of Rural Development department held at Winter Secretariat today with Minister of State for Hajj, Auqaf and Rural Development, Aijaz Ahmad Khan in chair.
The meeting was informed that as many as 35,822 works costing Rs. 407.34 crore have been taken up for execution during current financial year, of which 13,814 works have been completed till now.
The meeting was further informed that over one crore mandays of work were generated and 5,04,139 job cards issued during the same period.
Reviewing the Indira Awas Yojana (IAY), the Minister was informed that 16,693 small houses have been taken up for construction and 6,733 for upgradation during current financial year, out of which construction of 7,191 houses and upgradation of 2,711 houses is completed. Over Rs. 42 crore have been incurred on the scheme so far, the meeting was informed.
While reviewing the performance under Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY), the Minister was informed that Rs. 5.20 crore were expended, out of Rs. 8.60 crore under the scheme during current financial year so far. As many as, 770 Self Help Groups were formed to whom subsidy of Rs. 4.65 crore and loan of Rs. 19.92 crore have been provided so far enabling them to earn their own livelihood.
Khan also reviewed the status of the works taken up under Model Village Scheme. He was informed that Rs. 2.87 crore have been expended on five projects under the scheme so far.
Reviewing IWDP Haryali Project, the Minister was informed that out 2,276 works taken up under the scheme, 1966 works were completed with an expenditure of Rs. 16.94 crore so far.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister directed the officers to speed up the pace of work and ensure 100 percent achievement of targets. He also stressed upon the officers to work with more zeal and dedication.
