Rs 64 Cr provided as financial assistance to 2,86,785 beneficiaries

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 06: Financial assistance of over Rs. 64 crore have been provided to as many as 2,86,785 beneficiaries of Kashmir Valley under various Social Welfare Schemes during the current financial year so far.
This was stated at a review meeting of Programme Officers and District Social Welfare Officers of Kashmir division held at Winter Secretariat today with Minister of State for Hajj, Auqaf and Social Welfare, Aijaz Ahmad Khan in chair. The Director, Social Welfare, Hilal Ahmad Parray and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
The meeting was informed that Rs. 42 crore have been provided to 2,15,163 beneficiaries under Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS), Rs. 20 crore released to 66,103 beneficiaries under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), Rs. One crore paid to 1,000 beneficiaries under National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) and Rs. 1.04 crore have been paid to 4,519 beneficiaries under Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS) and Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS).
Reviewing the functioning of Anganwari Centres, the Minister was informed that 15,055 Centres are functioning in the nook and corner of the Valley wherein about 6 lakh children between age group of 0-6 years are being provided nutrition and immunization, besides heath check up.
The Minister was also informed that 5,046 more Anganwari Centres have been proposed under “Anganwari on demand” scheme which will further improve the functioning of the department.
Regarding newly introduced SABLA scheme, the meeting was informed that Rs. 2.71 crore have been released under the scheme in which 87,848 adolescent girls in the age group of 11-18 years are receiving nutrition and other benefits of the scheme.
The meeting was also informed that Rs. 2.45 crore has been sanctioned under Indira Gandhi Mahila Sewa Yojna (IGMSY). Under this scheme, every pregnant lady living below poverty line can get financial assistance of Rs. 3000 in three instalments. During current financial year, 5,374 such ladies were benefited under the scheme.
Addressing the officers, the Minister stressed upon the concerned to further improve monitoring mechanism of Anganwari Centres. He also directed officers to speed up the process of computerizing of the records at the district level.
Khan stressed upon the officers to work with more dedication and missionary zeal as they are serving the poor class of the society.
