Sham inaugurates 5-day free eye check up-operation camp at Akhnoor

AKHNOOR, FEBRUARY 06:- Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Sham Lal Sharma today inaugurated 5-day free eye check up and operation camp at Sub-District Hospital, Akhnoor. The camp has been organized by the Sant Nirankari Mission, Akhnoor branch, a social organization, in collaboration with the Health Department.
During the camp, more than 100 patients are likely to be operated by the ophthalmologists of health department. The patients, besides free post operative medicines, would be provided spectacles food, boarding and lodging facilities by the Mission. The doctors will also give free consultations to the patients suffering from different eye related ailments.
Lauding the efforts of the Nirankari Mission for carrying out the philanthropic services , the Minister said that the organization has been doing excellent work and serving the mankind selflessly. He expressed his gratitude to the organization for supplementing the efforts of the Government in this important sector. He said the organization is always on the forefront both during normal and in emergency times and extend helping hand to the needy.
He said the Mission has been fulfilling the requirement of blood by organizing frequent blood donation camps across the State. Their services are inspiration for others. He appealed all such social organizations, NGOs to extend help to the needy in whatever form they can. He also stressed upon the social organizations to work for bringing social reforms to eradicate various evils, like consumption of alcohal, tobacco, drug addiction, dowry etc. from the society.
The Minister directed the Director Health Services to make a provision for free eye operation of the poor patients in the Government hospitals.
Zonal Incharge, J&K Sant Nirankari Mission, S. Ajit Singh was also present on the occasion and briefed the audience about the activities undertaken by the Mission in the social sector. He apprised that the Mission has organized 12 such free eye camps and 9 blood donation camps at different places across the State. He said it is endeavour of the Mission to help the poor and needy in whatever form. He thanked the Minister and Health Department for supporting the event.
Director Health Services, Dr. Madhu Khullar, Director Family Welfare, Dr. T.K.Moza, Controller Drugs & Food Control Organization, Satish Gupta, CMO, Jammu, Dr. Javed Chib, SDM, Akhnoor N.S.Jamwal, vetarn social worker, Sat Pal Saraf, Pramukh Nirankari Mission, Akhnoor, Sansar Chand and prominent personalities of the area were also present at the inaugural function.
