Srinagar: Government of Tajikistan wants a direct flight between Srinagar and its capital Dushanbe, country’s envoy said here on Saturday.
“People of Tajikistan and Kashmir are related closely with each other especially through Hazrat Shah-i-Hamdan and we are looking forward for a direct flight between Srinagar and Dushanbe,” Ambassador of Tajkistan Syed Baig told a gathering of scholars here at Kashmir University’s convention hall during a religious conference.
“We have already arranged direct flight between New Delhi and Dushanbe. I will like to meet the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and discuss about the possibility of direct flight between Srinagar and Dushanbe,” the envoy said, adding the flight would be just of one-hour.
Beig, who has met Chief Minister during a conference on Rabindranath Tagore earlier, has written a book in Persian language on Kashmir—Kashmir Next.
Earlier, Baig delivered a research oriented address on the arrival of Hazrat Bulbul Shah and Hazrat Shah-i-Hamdan in 14th century at International Convocation Hall of Kashmir University.
While reciting various couplets written in Persian language on Kashmir by him, the envoy underscored the need for revival of Kashmir-Tajkistan and Turkistan and other Central Asian cultural links so that the present generation was able to discover its past glory.
The conference to pay respect to Aulia Kiraams of Kashmir was organized by Director Information and Chairman Bulbul Shah Trust Farooq Renzushah.
